Provincial Directorate of Agriculture : Give Preference to the Certified Nursery Trees

By the commencement of sapling sales, Provincial Agriculture Directorate tightened the controls. Ali Lek, Provincial Director of Agriculture, warned citizens on the points to take into consideration when buying a fruit tree.

Lek emphasized that buyer should buy fruit trees with developed root formation, fruit trees that are young, healthy, free from diseases and pests. He went on: “A big amount of fruit trees come to markets from districts and nearby cities. Agriculture directorate of the province they cultivated in examines these saplings and on the grounds of that examination, they stamp the sapling with lead seal which indicated that there are no diseases or pests in the sapling and they give transportation and sale certificate. This certificate is limited to one week. However, rarely, fruit trees that have no transportation and sale certificate are sold in the market illegally. If those fruit trees have pests and contagious diseases, by buying them we transport those diseases to the region we do cultivation. Therefore, you shouldn’t buy the fruit trees that are unsealed and don’t have agricultural quarantine transportation and sale certificate.”
